The Impact U18 won 4-2 against the UQTR Patriotes on Sunday at Complexe sportif Alphonse-Desjardins.

The Patriotes got on the board first, scoring on a penalty kick in the first minutes of play.

In the 30th minute, the Bleu-blanc-noir equalized when Gabriel Balbinotti scored with a header on a cross from Luca Ricci. At the beginning of the second half, the team took the lead for the first time in the game when Don-Junior Bobe picked up his own rebound on the volley after smashing his initial shot against the post.

UQTR came back to score another goal after recovering the ball in Montreal’s half.

The Impact took advantage of two good sequences to take the lead again. Raphaël Garcia chipped the goalkeeper before Giovanni Pulitano finished the action in an empty net. In the 80th minute, Protais Mutambala passed the ball in behind to Mathieu Choinière who scored the last goal of the game, making it 4-2.

“Despite a positive result, we were not able to consistently apply in the game what we did during the previous weeks in training,” said Impact U18 head coach Yoann Damet. “We showed good things, but only on and off. We need to be more united around the project of play in the next weeks if we want to restart the season on the right foot.”

The Impact U18 has three wins and two ties. The team will play its last game against a Quebec university this Saturday when it faces the UQAM Citadins at 3pm at Complexe sportif Marie-Victorin.
