Impact U16 draws at New York City FC

USSDA IMFC

While the Impact U18 had a weekend off with no USSDA games, the U16s were meeting New York City FC in Queens.

After a difficult first half, the Impact looked better in the second half. Forward Jean-Arnaud Tano found a few good chances, but New York’s goalkeeper made the stops, as did the Bleu-blanc-noir’s goalkeeper. The game ended in a 0-0 draw.

“We need to forget about the first half,” said Impact U16 head coach Nicolas Gagnon. “We were reactive when we had to be available in midfield and on transitions, and there was too much space between our lines. In the second half, we were more available in the midfield, which helped us circulate the ball. We didn’t have enough presence in the opposing box to have more impact offensively and to create better chances.”

Next week, the Academy USSDA teams will fly to Florida to take part in the USSDA winter showcase. Each team will play three games in four days.

The Impact U18 will take on Seattle Sounders FC, Real Salt Lake AZ and St. Louis Scott Gallagher Metro, while the U16s will face Vardar, Orlando City SC and FC Dallas. The games will start on December 1st.

The U8s, U9s and U11s were crowned champions in their respective age category, while the U10s finished second, losing against a good Celtix Haut-Richelieu team that came from behind in the final. The U12s finished third in their group.
