Impact to host A.S. Roma in an international friendly in August

MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Tuesday that it will play an international friendly against renowned Italian club A.S Roma on Wednesday, August 3, at 7:30pm at Stade Saputo.


“We are extremely proud to host one of Italy’s most prestigious clubs here in Montreal,” said Montreal Impact President Joey Saputo. “Following Real Madrid’s visit in July, this will be another unique occasion for our members and supporters to experience international soccer first-hand.”


Founded in 1927, Associazione Sportiva Roma has won three Serie A titles, nine Coppa Italia titles as well as two Supercoppa Italiana titles over the course of its history, all played in the Italian first division.


Note that members (season ticket holders) already have their tickets for this match, identified as the “Game to be determined”.


Members will also have first priority to purchase additional individual tickets for this match on Wednesday, July 6 at 9am. Individual tickets will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, July 7 at 9am. 


About A.S. Roma 

Under head coach Luciano Spalletti, i Giallorossi finished third in Serie A last season, securing their qualification for the 2016-17 UEFA Champions League play-off round. The team reached the Round of 16 in the 2015-16 edition, losing to eventual winner Real Madrid.


Roma’s roster currently includes legendary Italian striker Francesco Totti, Italian striker Stephan El Shaarawy, Bosnian striker Edin Džeko, Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan, Italian midfielders Daniele De Rossi and Alessandro Florenzi, as well as Greek defender Konstantinos Manolas.
