Midfielder Ignacio Piatti named MLS player of the week

MONTREAL - Montreal Impact midfielder Ignacio Piatti was named MLS Player of the Week for Week 10 on Tuesday. Piatti scored a brace and drew a penalty kick converted by Didier Drogba in the team’s 4-4 comeback against Columbus Crew SC, Saturday night, at MAPFRE Stadium.
In addition, Piatti has been nominated for the AT&T Goal of the Week and was selected to the MLS Team of the Week for a fifth time this season. He also won the AT&T Goal of the Week twice, in the first and seventh week of the season, after stunning plays against Vancouver and Chicago.
The Argentine is currently tied for second in MLS with two game-winning goals and two multi-goal games, tied for fourth with six goals and tied for seventh with 12 shots on goal.
Upcoming games at Stade Saputo
The Impact’s next game is scheduled at Stade Saputo this Saturday at 5pm EDT, taking on the Philadelphia Union (RDS, TDS, 98,5fm & TSN Radio 690), in a fascinating showdown between two of the Eastern Conference’s top teams. The Impact advises supporters to get to Stade Saputo early and to use public transit. Pie-IX Blvd. will be closed in the northbound direction, from Pierre-de-Coubertin Ave. to Mont-Royal Ave., until May 31. Traffic disruptions are also scheduled on Pierre-de-Coubertin Ave., between Jeanne-d’Arc Ave. and Pie-IX Blvd., until early June.
The club would also like to remind supporters that its following game against the LA Galaxy on Sunday, May 29, has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 28, at 8pm EDT (RDS, 98,5fm & TSN Radio 690). All tickets dated May 29 for this game will be valid at all Stade Saputo entrances on May 28.
