MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Monday the acquisition of Argentine offensive midfielder Lucas Ontivero, on loan from Turkish club Galatasaray. Ontivero will join the club after passing his medicals and upon receiving his international transfer certificate. As per MLS policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.

"After analysing our roster during the off-season, we felt we needed to add a dynamic attacking midfielder," said Impact technical director Adam Braz. “Lucas fits the profile that we were looking for and we are excited to have him join our team from the start of training camp.”

"We are pleased to add a creative player, who can play on both wings," said head coach Mauro Biello. “He has qualities that can help us this season.”

Ontivero, a 21-year-old left-footed player, who was most recently on loan to Olimpija from Galatasaray, scored four goals in 11 games, including nine starts, and 699 minutes with the Slovenian first division club.

He was a member of the youth systems of both Argentine club San Lorenzo (2004-2006) and prestigious Spanish club Real Madrid (2006-2009).
