Saturday’s victory on the road against New England may be one of the biggest in the club’s MLS history, clinching a playoff berth with a gritty defensive performance against last season’s MLS Cup finalists.
In a league where results on the road are extremely hard to come by, the Impact has risen to the occasion, winning two straight in 1-0 shutouts.
In addition, the team has earned points in four of six matches away from Stade Saputo since Mauro Biello took over the coaching reigns, during a difficult stretch of games to close out the season, and for just the second time in club history, managed wins in two straight road games.
