Nick De Santis: builder of international relationships

de santis press conference

Nick De Santis has seen his role evolve with the Montreal Impact over the past 20 years. First as a player, then head coach, he became the club’s technical director and later its sporting director.

On July 30, Nick De Santis was released of his duties as sporting director and was named director of international development.

Over the last six months, De Santis has played an advisory role to the technical director Adam Braz, as well as head coach and director of player personnel Frank Klopas. De Santis assisted in realizing the plan for 2015 established by Klopas.

De Santis continued to forge international relationships, especially in South America and Europe - including in Italy, alongside Joey Saputo with his purchase of Bologna FC and the implementation of a new technical staff.

He once again demonstrated this off-season that he is an asset to the club.

Although his duties have not changed since he took on this new role, De Santis’ title has changed in recent weeks, becoming the Impact’s vice-president of international relations and technical development. This modification was made to better reflect his role within the organization and facilitate the relationships established with other clubs and agents throughout the world.

Nick De Santis reports directly to Impact president Joey Saputo, while Klopas and Braz fall under the direction of executive vice-president of soccer operations Richard Legendre.
