Four storylines for Saturday's game against Sporting KC

Felipe vs Rosell Sporting KC

Highlights - June 1, 2013 :  Sporting KC 1-2 Impact

Following its 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire this past weekend, the Montreal Impact now has earned points in three straight games, but is still looking for that first win of the season. Could Kansas City be the answer?

Here are the top storylines heading into this Saturday’s matchup:

1. Success in KC

Last year’s MLS Cup champions are one of the best home teams in MLS with its state of the art soccer specific stadium and some of the loudest fans in the league. A nice rivalry is brewing between the clubs, with the bleu-blanc-noir victorious on two occasions at Sporting Park in three matches played, including a 2-0 shutout win in its inaugural season and a 2-1 victory last June. Perfect place for a statement game and three points, don’t you think?

2. Second straight start for Ouimette?

Following some defensive miscues in matches prior to last weekend, Impact bench boss Frank Klopas decided to shake things up on the back line by inserting Ouimette in the starting XI and it paid off as the former Academy-man was, in the coach’s words “fantastic” against the Fire.

3. Jack Mac Attack

With a goal in his first game with the Impact, can forward Jack McInerney find the back of the net yet again? Although the chemistry wasn’t perfect, there were a number of good moments between him and bomber Marco Di Vaio. Can the chemistry between the two strikers flourish this weekend?

4. Return of Rivas

With defender Nelson Rivas returning to full training last week, could the Columbian return to the pitch against SKC? The centre back was a huge part of the Impact’s shutout win in SKC in 2012, shutting down Kansas City strong forwards. His physical style could just be what the Impact needs.
