The Impact has made the playoffs!

MONTREAL – In just its second season in MLS, the Montreal Impact officially qualified for the playoffs on Sunday, finishing the season in 5th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 14-13-7 for 49 points.

As a result, the Impact will travel to Houston to take on the Dynamo in the knockout game this Thursday at 8:30pm ET. The game will be broadcast live on RDS, TSN and CJAD 800.

The Chicago Fire fell 5-2 to the New York Red Bulls on Sunday at Red Bull Arena finishing the season in 6th spot with 49 points as the Impact holds the tiebreaker between the two clubs, having scored more goals this season.

The New England Revolution shut out the Columbus Crew 1-0 on the road to jump into third spot in the East, while the Houston Dynamo defeated D.C. United by a 2-1 score in Washington, thus finishing the 2013 campaign in 4th place.

The Impact finished its second season in MLS with the best all-time record of any Canadian team in MLS and will look to become the first Canadian team to get past the knockout round after the Vancouver Whitecaps FC failed to do so in 2012, the only other time a Canadian team had made it to the postseason.
