Impact prepares for a decisive game this Saturday

Supporters Flags vs Sporting KC

The Montreal Impact has hosted a number of important games over its second season in MLS, but this Saturday’s matchup at Stade Saputo versus the New England Revolution is probably the biggest game of the year.

The Impact currently sits in 4th place in the Eastern Conference at 46 points, with four other teams legitimately chasing the final two playoff spots, including the Philadelphia Union (45 points), the Chicago Fire (43 points), the Revs (42 points) and the Columbus Crew (41 points).

With the playoff race tighter than it’s ever been, the Impact has a chance to finish in front of two teams sitting behind them in the standings with a win.

A victory on Saturday would lift the Impact to 49 points and not only keep the club in the race for third spot and a bye in the opening round of the playoffs, but the Impact would guarantee that the Crew and the Revolution would not be able to pass them in the standings.

In addition, a Chicago loss to FC Dallas in Texas Saturday night would just about clinch a playoff spot for the Impact, who currently has a solid hold on the tiebreaker with the Fire.

If ever there was a time to show your Impact colours at the stadium, 2:30pm this Saturday would be that time.
