MLS All-Star: Why you should vote for Matteo Ferrari

The MLS Alll-star game can sometimes be a popularity contest, as fans are asked to vote in their favourite players, but the smooth and understated play of Impact defender Matteo Ferrari has finally caught the attention of fans around the league.

Here's why you should vote for the Impact defender.

He’s a beast. Since joining the club at the beginning of last season, Ferrari has been one of the most consistent and solid performers for the Impact on the backline. The former Italian international just surpassed the 3,000 minutes played plateau with the club for his career, which would make him only the second defender to do so for the Impact in MLS. In 2013, other than the two games he spent on the sideline due to injury, Ferrari has played 90 minutes of all games.

His timely slide tackles. Watching Ferrari gracefully and effortlessly slide to intercept a pass or cut off an attacker is like watching a swan glide along water. He never panics and makes it look easy, coming away from it with barely a scratch.

Serie A’s AS Roma is this year’s All-Star opponent. Ferrari played over 50 games for the giallorossi. See the connection?
