Davy Arnaud nominated for MLS Goal of the Week

Davy Arnaud Goal of the Week nomination

MLS Goal of the Week: Week 1
Talk about a good way to start the season.

Just like in 2012, captain Davy Arnaud scored his team's first goal of the season as the Impact beat the Sounders 1-0 at CenturyLink Field on Saturday evening. And just like in 2012, his first goal of the year has been nominated for the MLS Goal of the Week.

From the central part of the pitch, Marco Di Vaio pivoted before laying the ball off to Felipe, who lobbed the ball over the Sounders defenders, finding Davy Arnaud on the run. The Impact captain took one touch and chipped it with the outside of the foot over Sounders’ keeper Michael Gspurning, who was too far off of his line. After the game, Arnaud was full of praise for his brazilian teammate, who provided the assist.
“Felipe timed the ball really well, I knew he saw me running and he played a great ball," said the captain after Saturday's win. "I wasn’t sure who was to my right but I figured I wouldn’t have a lot of time so I had to hit it pretty fast after I took my first touch.”
