2012 GOTY - Felipe's scissor kick wins it!

2012 Goal of the Year Felipe EN

Impact supporters have spoken… the team’s Goal of the year belongs to Brazilian midfielder Felipe for his acrobatic side scissors against the Philadelphia Union in a 2-0 home win back on August 4.

Felipe scored in the 79th minute to put the Impact up by two and seal the victory. Defender Hassoun Camara won the ball back down the right flank before playing a cross towards the top of the box where Felipe jumped to side volley the ball towards goal, beating goalkeeper Zac MacMath low to his left.

“I didn’t really know if I had a good chance on goal, but it ended up being a nice one,” said Felipe after the game. “Camara put in a nice cross.”

The Montreal Impact midfielder earned AT&T Goal of the Week honours for that score, beating out Seattle’s Fredy Montero and Eddie Johnson with 38% of the votes and was later nominated as one of the top markers in the league this season.
