Postgame quotes: Bologna FC vs Montreal Impact

Mauro Biello training Bologna

Marco Di Vaio

On playing versus his old team…

“I was really happy to have the chance to play today. It was very emotional for me. Never did I think that I’d get the chance to come back here and play against Bologna with the Impact. I’d like to thank Davy very much for allowing me to wear the captain’s band tonight. It was really special.”

On the game…

“Our legs were a little tired in the first half after long travel, but we did much better in the second half and we were able to create some chances. I was pleased with our effort and I think it was a great learning experience.”

Interim head coach Mauro Biello

On taking from tonight for game versus Fiorentina…

“The experience from tonight’s game is good. We didn’t know what to expect exactly and now we have an idea of the level, so we can prepare and be ready for next Thursday’s game with much more confidence. We’ll work hard the next few days to prepare for Fiorentina.”

On first game behind the bench…

“It felt great. To play against a team of this level is a great experience for me and the team. I think we did good things, especially in the second half. Overall I’m pleased with our game, even though it seemed like we left our legs on the plane in the first half.”

Troy Perkins

On the game…

“You can see the difference in the level. They were sharper, a little tighter in the style of game and their knowledge. Some of that was obviously the time change and the long flight. But near the end, we played a lot better and I’m pleased with our performance.”

On being in Italy…

“It’s been great. It’s my first time here, so I am really trying to enjoy the experience and take it all in.”

Jeb Brovsky

On the game...

“Our second half was much more upbeat. We gave them a lot of respect in the first half. But I thought we used the flanks in the second half effectively and we were able to get Sanna behind the defence a few times and were unlucky not to have come away with a goal.”

On playing versus such high-leveled opponents…

“It’ been a great experience so far. Just being on the pitch in a Serie A atmosphere has been incredible and a learning experience, things I’ll take back for my entire career. We have been learning from guys like Di Vaio and Nesta, and now we got to see a lot of the things they talked about first hand. It’s something I’ll take with me for the rest of my life.”
