Top 5: Why you should be at Stade Saputo on Wednesday night

Stade Saputo Home opener

The Impact faces Toronto FC on Wednesday night at Stade Saputo and in case you still needed convincing, here are five good reasons why you should attend the team's eight home game of the season.

1. Di Vaio’s debut

Yes, the big day is finally here. The first ever Designated Player in club history, Marco Di Vaio, will take to the pitch at Stade Saputo alongside his new teammates for the first time. Will he score a goal in his first game against Toronto?

Maybe…Without putting any pressure on the new arrival, he did manage to break the ice in his first game with Bologna on August 23 in a Coppa Italia match versus Vicenza. Get ready to chant his name!

2. Toronto in town

Really, do we have to go into any more details here? Eternal arch rival TFC is in town to invade Stade Saputo Wednesday night. The worst team in MLS…could they get the best of the Impact on such a big night. They’d love to, but we’ll be ready.

The Impact beat TFC 2-1 in regular season action at the Olympic Stadium on April 7, but they were then eliminated by the Reds in the semi-finals of the 2012 Amway Canadian Championships. Revenge is definitely on the menu tomorrow night.

3. Goal-fest at Stade Saputo

Who said there’s no scoring in soccer?

The team may have played just two games at Stade Saputo, but it scored four goals in each of the two victories against Seattle and Houston, respectively. As a matter of fact, the impact has scored more goals at Stade Saputo in two games then they scored in five regular season matches at Olympic Stadium. It’s good to be home.

4. The dynamic duo

While Patrice Bernier has been patrolling the midfield, Felipe has been turning defenders inside out with solid technical performances. Bernier had the fans on their feet in the first ever game at Stade Saputo with three assists in the win versus Seattle, earning man of the match honours. Felipe realized the same exploit one week later, against Houston, on the strength of his two helpers.

5. Get your souvenir towel

In order to underline Marco Di Vaio’s first game, the first 5,000 people through the gates tomorrow night will be given a souvenir towel bearing the marks of the Impact and its new number 9. One more reason not to miss tomorrow’s game!

See you at Stade Saputo.
