The Impact plays its first preseason game on Sunday

Preseason 2012 Team Running

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – The Montreal Impact will play its first game of training camp on Sunday against the reserve team of Mexican first division club Chivas, in Guadalajara, Mexico, at 11am ET.

Following five training sessions since arriving in Mexico, Wednesday, Impact head coach Jesse Marsch will use three different teams for each of the three 30-minute periods.
“After five days of training, it’s a great chance for the players to try to show what they can do,” said Marsch. “The group has worked hard in the last few days and is gradually improving physically. It will be a good start to see how they size up by letting them play at different positions.”
“We will play a team that is fit, skillful and competitive,” added Marsh. “They will play with energy because they don’t want to lose to a Major League team. The result is not important but I would like to see good moments in the game.”
The Impact’s 12-day stay in Mexico includes four exhibition games. The team will go on to face off against Mexican clubs Estudiantes Tecos, Iteso and Atlas, on January 24, 25 and 26, respectively.
50 days
The Impact will kickoff its historical inaugural game in North America’s first division in just 50 days, on March 10 against Canadian rivals the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, at 6pm ET, in Vancouver at BC Place. The club will then play its home opener at Olympic Stadium on March 17, against the Chicago Fire, at 2pm. Season tickets are available online at impactmontreal.com or by calling 514-328-3668.
