The excitement around the unveiling of the new Montreal Impact team jersey is contagious as supporters and players alike have lit up the social media sites with messages of anticipation and enthusiasm over the official presentation set for Thursday, December 1, at 6:30pm, at the Montreal Science Centre.

Supporters will be able to watch a live streaming feed of the unveiling on impactmontreal.com. The Impact then invite its supporters to come and celebrate the unveiling of the club’s new jersey for Major League Soccer, in a Meet and Greet with the players, starting at 10pm at L’Assommoir, located at 211 Notre-Dame West, near the Place d’armes station.

“I think the supporters will really love the new design,” said the Montreal Impact Branding and Merchandising Director Stéfanie Bureau to Impact Media, 24 hours before the launch. “Impact supporters will recognize the jersey as a representation of the club’s identity, as well as the culture and history of the city and province it calls home.”

The design process began in July 2010, and took approximately 18 months, according to Mike Walker, Global MLS Product Manager for adidas, with approximately 10 different working samples that went through many back and forth discussions with the Impact staff.

“Montreal was great to work with and was open to adidas bringing our abilities and opinions into the design.”

The inspiration for the jersey originated from a sightseeing trip around Montreal, where designers visited some of the city’s best-known and historical sights.

“The designers were very inspired by the landscape, history, architecture and culture of Montreal and how different the people are,” added Stéfanie Bureau. “They went around the city discovering Montreal and used what they found as their foundation.”

“The Impact’s new design is very relevant to the Montreal and Quebec market,” added Walker.

The jerseys will then be made available for purchase on Friday, December 2, at the Impact boutique located in downtown Montreal (1100 University, office 104), online at boutiqueimpactmontreal.com, as well as in 90 major stores across Quebec.
