TFC ACADEMY 1 IMPACT ACADEMY 3

The Impact U21 is now first in the Canadian Soccer League (CSL) overall standings.

Forwards Victor Ndiaye (30th minute) and Michelot Hyacinthe (56th), as well as defender Karl Ouimette (43rd) scored the three goals in the team’s sixth win of the season.

"With two wins, this without a doubt a great weekend for the Academy," said Impact U21 head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "Our young players enjoyed the atmosphere today at Saputo Stadium. Despite the fatigue and some technical errors, we appreciated the players’ availability, always giving many options to the player carrying the ball."

Ndiaye scored the first goal of the game, when he deflected a shot to the far post from midfielder Chris-Michel Rumuri, beating Toronto goalkeeper Angelo Cavalluzzo to his left.

Standing at the second post, defender Karl Ouimette accepted a cross from the right wing from forward Michelot Hyacinthe and beat the Toronto goalkeeper to his right at the 43rd minute of play.

TFC Academy then scored at the end of the first half. Midfielder Michael Wagenknecht scored in an empty cage following a free kick from forward Stefan Vukovic from 40 meters out that hit the crossbar.

Michelot Hyacinthe scored in the 56th minute of play, taking advantage of rebound given by Toronto goalkeeper on a shot from Victor Ndiaye.

"We knew it was going to be a decisive weekend," said team captain Karl Ouimette. "It was two good challenges and we played well in both games. I like helping the offence, which I was able to do this weekend. I have a lot of confidence in my teammates. We also want to thank all the supporters who attended today's game.”

"With these performances, we are in first place in the standings and our objective is obviously to stay there," added Eullaffroy. "We will need to beat the best teams in the league to stay on top. We will continue to work hard and to concentrate on the quality of our last passes and our aggressiveness on the ball.”

The Impact Academy will play its next game against the North York Astros on Saturday, July 2, at 1pm at Saputo Stadium. Fans can attend this game for a cost of $4 for adults and $2 for children.
