The Impact selects midfielder George Malki with the 37th overall pick of the 2014 SuperDraft
PHILADELPHIA - In the second round of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, the Impact acquired selected midfielder George Malki with the 37th pick and also picked up an international spot in 2014 from D.C. United for the 29th overall selection.
Originally from Chicago, Malki scored two goals and added three assists in 21 games for the Cal Poly Mustangs in 2013. He played four seasons with the Mustangs, finishing second in team scoring in 2012 with four goals and three assists. He trained with Swedish second division club Assyriska Föreningen in 2012. Malki was a member of the US U18 and U15 programs.
The Impact also selected defender Eric Miller from Creighton University with the 5th pick overall of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft.
