With the Montreal Impact still in the hunt for a playoff spot, Wednesday night's game between the Chicago Fire and Toronto FC was an interesting one.

The Fire came away with a big 2-1 win versus Toronto at BMO field and secured the second place spot in the Eastern Conference.

Chicago started the game off in great form, getting an early goal in the 13th minute off of a header by Alvaro Fernandez; assisted by Pavel Pardo. Chicago would turn up the heat when Chris Rolfe scored a volley off of a corner kick just before the half in the 42nd minute.

Toronto would show some life when forward Eric Hassli finished a well-developed play in the 79th minute, but Chicago held on to the end.

The last time these two teams met, both walked away with a point, tying 1-1 in the Impact's home opener at Olympic Stadium on March 17. But, both sides have changed drastically since then.

The Impact has added Alessandro Nesta, and Designated Player Marco Di Vaio, while Chicago brought in former German international Arne Friedrich, traded for midfield Alvaro Fernandez from Seattle and signed Dutchman Sherjill MacDonald as its DP.

So, this upcoming rematch in Chicago will be a crucial game. For the Impact, a win could possibly put them in the 5th playoff spot (depending on the result in Columbus) and that much closer to playing in November.

Supporters can catch the game live at 8:30pm (ET) on TVA Sports.
