Flashback: Montreal Impact 2-1 Columbus Crew
In its second matchup of the season against the Columbus Crew - the first one ended in a 2-0 away defeat -, the Impact ended a three-game losing streak by beating the Crew 2-1 at Stade Saputo, on Sunday July 8.
Montreal conceded the lead when midfielder Miroslav Mirosevic scored off a corner kick, but tied it all up in the 78th minute. Defender Zarek Valentin received a through-ball from Sanna Nyassi on the right flank before unleashing a low drive which beat Crew goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum.
The Impact supporters had to wait until the late stages of the game, more precisely in the 89th. minute for the game-winner when a penalty was called after midfielder Justin Mapp had been brought down in the penalty area. Canadian international Patrice Bernier stepped up to take the penalty and all three points for the home team.
