Montreal Impact to face LA Galaxy and Chivas USA on Tuesday

Team will play a total of 135 minutes against both LA clubs

CARSON, California – The Montreal Impact will play its third preseason game in California, on Tuesday, facing off against the LA Galaxy and star midfielder David Beckham at the Home Depot Center in Carson, at 1:30pm (ET).

Immediately following the game, the team will play an additional 45 minutes against Chivas USA of MLS.

This will be the first matchup against the reigning MLS Cup champion, a team that is playing its fourth preseason game in 2012. The Galaxy won its first exhibition game against the LA Blues by a score of 7-2, and then lost to the Houston Dynamo 1-0 and to the Portland Timbers 4-1.

The Impact was put through a light workout Monday morning at the Home Depot Center.

“We did a lot of work on the technical side of the game,” explained Impact assistant coach Mike Sorber. “We want to remain consistent with our message and in the effort we want to give. This will be an opportunity to play a good side and to continue to evaluate the chemistry that is building with our players.”

“It will be a tough game against the champions,” said American defender Zarek Valentin, who played 62 minutes against Portland. “Playing against the two finalists from last season (Houston last Wednesday) will help show that we are preparing well and we are anxious for the game tomorrow.”

The Impact, which has a record of 2-1-3 so far this preseason, will end its California tour on Friday against the UCLA Bruins of the NCAA and Ventura County Fusion of the USL Premier Development League.

The Impact will kick off its inaugural season in the North American first division on Saturday, March 10, against Canadian rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC, at 6pm (ET), at BC Place in Vancouver. The team will then host its season opener at home the following Saturday, at Olympic Stadium, on March 17, against the Chicago Fire, at 2pm (ET).

Season tickets for 2012 are still available and can be purchased via the team’s website at impactmontreal.com or by calling 514-328-3668. Individual tickets are available for the Olympic Stadium games via the Admission network.
