AMATEUR
In college, played for the University of South Carolina before transferring to the University of North Carolina for his final two seasons… In 2001, won the NCAA championship with the University of North Carolina and was a second team All-ACC selection… Finished his college career with 74 points, tallying 24 goals and 26 assists.
INTERNATIONAL
From 2002 to 2004, was a regular member of the US U-23 National Team.
PROFESSIONAL
Started his professional soccer career with the Richmond Kickers in 2003… Received the league's 2003 Rookie of the Year award, notching six goals and two assists for 14 points... Was among the top three team scorers, playing in 28 games, 23 as a starter… Was then acquired by the Columbus Crew, in the Major League Soccer (MLS) as a discovery player on a loan from the Kickers… Played his first MLS season in 2004… Played 16 games, recording one assist... In 2005, with the Crew, appeared in 17 games, 12 as a starter, and tallied one goal and three assists… In 2006, joined the Vancouver Whitecaps… Tallied six goals, two assists and 14 points in 21 regular season games… In the playoffs, collected a goal and three assists in the Whitecaps' championship run… Started the 2007 season with the Whitecaps, tallying one goal and one assist in 1,612 minutes… Was acquired by the Impact July 26 with forward Joey Gjertsen, in return for midfielder Zé Roberto and forward Alen Marcina, before the July 30 roster freeze… In his first game with the Impact, on August 1st, scored one goal in a 4-1 win against Carolina… Played a total of 23 games (2,045 minutes) with Vancouver and Montreal… In his first complete season with the Impact in 2008, played 20 games, 15 as starter, and 1,438 minutes of play… Scored one goal, on July 18, in a 3-1 win against the Miami FC at Saputo Stadium… Was one of the four Impact players who played the 90 minutes of all four Nutrilite Canadian Championship games… Scored one of the five Impact goals in that tournament, in a 2-0 win, June 25 in Vancouver... Also scored in the playoffs in the quarterfinal series against the Seattle Sounders… Started the seven games that he played in the CONCACAF Champions League… Also missed a few games due to a sports hernia.
2009 SEASON
In his third season with the Impact, received the Giuseppe-Saputo Trophy, presented to the Montreal Impact’s Most Valuable Player... Was selected to the USL-1 All-League Second Team for the first time in his career …Was the most used player of the club, playing a total of 26 matches, all as a starter, for a total of 2,235 minutes of play… Earned his first career assist in the Montreal uniform in his 50th game with the club August 23 at Saputo Stadium… In the playoffs, scored a goal in the first quarterfinal leg, September 24, against Charleston… Earned his second career championship, the first with the Impact… Signed a two-year deal with the Impact on November 30, 2009. |
