THE IMPACT PLAYED ITS SECOND INTER-CLUB MATCH

PRESS RELEASE: February 13, 2010

BROSSARD – The Montreal Impact played Saturday its second inter-club match of training camp in front of more than 600 spectators at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard. The Blue team, composed mainly of Impact players, registered a 3-0 win against the White team, which was mostly made up of players from the reserve team, the Trois-Rivières Attak.

Midfielder Tony Donatelli opened the score at the 23rd minute by scoring on a penalty. Forward Reda Agourram doubled the Blue team’s lead at the 33rd minute by completing a play started by forward Eduardo Sebrango and midfielder Filipe Soares. Forward Roberto Brown scored the third goal of the match at the 90th minute, completing with a header a cross from midfielder Philippe Billy.

Forwards Roberto Brown and Eduardo Sebrango, midfielders Leonardo Di Lorenzo and Tyler Hemming, as well as defender Hicham Aaboubou, who had not played the first inter-club game last Saturday, took part in the match. Goalkeepers Matt Jordan, Andrei Badescu and Dominic Provost shared the playing time in nets. Goalkeeper Srdjan Djekanovic did not play due to back spasms.

“The game today was another good test for all players,” declared Impact head coach Marc Dos Santos. “I liked what I saw, especially during the first half, because we were closer to our game principles. I see progress since the start of camp and it’s satisfying. Nonetheless, we will get a clearer picture of the team’s evolution during our stay in Portugal.”

The Impact should play its first training camp exhibition game this coming Friday against a university team.

Peter Byers, who underwent surgery to his right knee on Friday, will be absent for a four-week period approximately.

2010 season tickets are currently on sale. Mini-season tickets are also available for purchase for five matches, starting at $50, or ten matches from $100. For further information, dial 514-328-3668 or visit impactmontreal.com.
